Even though Karachi (Pakistan) is an over populated, trash filled, dirty, unplanned, corrupt, crime flooded city, I love it truly from the heart. The city is BIG, hmm... actually its not only the biggest city in Pakistan, but its also included in the 10 most populated cities on this planet (others include, New York City, Bombay, etc). I have dedicated this page for my love for the
city. Although I was born in Lahore, nearly 15years back. I don’t know if its the fact that I have spent the majority of my life here, but deep inside my heart I feel that I am attachted to the city. Thought the city has’nt done much for me, its always going to be my dream to do something for the city. Living in a city with 15 million people is not definitely a big thing, but living in a piece of land with 15 million people, is definitely BIG!. But I owe it to the city for teaching me what FUN means.

The un-covered guttar caps, the traffic police (tullas), the 10 year old kids who drove pajaros (heehe.. go figure!), the driving expereince, the yellow cabs, the street hawkers, the beggers, the pan-ki-dukans, and everything else, is what has kept the love for my city sky high. AH well, I don’t want to bore you further. But coming to the point? WHATZ in Karachi for you? Well, what Karachi has to offer, I bet New York City can’t! (hahah). Okay, our top priority is to cover the food area!

FOOD:

Karachi, in my opinion has the greatest BBQ joints compared to any place in Pakistan. The conventional BBQ restaurants are "Al-Hamra" and "Bandu Khan". Both are famous for their chicken tikkas, sihek kebabs, parathas, kebab bottis, etc. However, if you want an unbelievable variety in your BBQ, you should check out BBQ TONITE (near Bilawal House, Clifton). The place has almost the best of any BBQ you can hope for. The BBQ food here is flooded with mouth watering spices and juicy taste, which is absoulutely out of this world!!.

The best Nihari (spicy dish, which junks of soft, tender meet and gravy), is that of Sabree’s in Sadder. And for Haleem, I would go for Karachi Haleem, (somewhere in Karachi J). Other great Pakistani food which I enjoyed here is Taka tak (a spicy combination of different kinds of meet and vegetables, fried on a huge steel plate) at Share-e-Qaideen, and Afghani Kebeb at Sohrab Goot (but now.. we settle with Kebebish at Boat Basin, coz Sohrab Got is too far from my house in Defence).

For tons more of Pakistani style dishes, one should take a walk on the strip of Boat Basin, which is flooded with small restaurants and shops serving different kinds of Pakistani foods. If you want to eat at something rather sofisticated check out Sheraton-Pakistani or Lal Qila(newly opened at Shahra-e-Faisal)

Chinese food is spread all over the city. But surely the hub of Chinese restaurants can be located opposite the Bilawal House (heading towards the sea view). The best is definitely Tai Pan(Pearl Continenetal)
If you’re a teenager, I guess the coolest places you could kill time would be Copper Kettle (great steaks, and deserts), Pizza Hut (mainly for the people, coz the pizzas are basically dipped in GREASE), KFC (amazing ZINGER burger). Other places one should check out are:

Sizzler – Great Steak House

Kitchen Cuisne - A-M-A-Z-I-N-G bakery

Two number key bunkabab – go straight from Nishat cinema and take a left some where (or better still ask some one where its located) they have the greatest BUN KEBABS Ever. Bandar Road key sharbat - amazing for Ramazan, here guys have the best drinks , and odd chat put stuff.

KB kee ice cream - had the best coffee ice cream.

Thinking a lot about this issue. Apart from food there was not much a gal could do back in Karachi. But like if you have a car, you can have a wild time for sure (in the safer areas of Clifton and Defence). Drag races, egging the traffic police (tullas), and other stuff like that. Clubs are pretty popular in Karachi, coz they help kill time majorly. Some of the best clubs in Karachi are:

Karachi Gymkhana -

Sindh Club - Really cool, prestigious club .

Karachi Club - Err.. recently these guys have improved a lot.

Creek Club - They charge a hell lot for a Glorified Mess! (as my dad says). Apart from that the club is pretty cool.

In the late summer season, and early winters fishing is really popular in Karachi. Loads of people are into trawling (fast water fishing, with speed boats).

The Karachi beaches, though not really well maintained sure are a treat for some 15 odd million people who reside in the city, chiefly because of the lack of major amenities. Clifton Beach, which is the closest to the city, is the most populated of the beaches, all the time. However for an early morning jog, the beach solves the purpose. Though for swimming and the rest, people prefer Sandspit and Hawskbay (around 30 mins to one hour from the city). The summer seasons is NOT recommended for the beach, coz of the currents and the rest of that ugly stuff.

I am planning to add a lot of stuff to this page in the future. Till then, in the ending I would like to say. That Karachi is my favourite city, no matter what happens I will always cherish the fun here!!
